Kinesiology:
when the body speaks

How gentle muscle testing reveals inner blockages

Sometimes the mind hasn’t yet realised what the body already knows – stress, overwhelm, or lingering emotions that show up as tension or discomfort. This is where kinesiology comes in. Developed in the 1960s from chiropractic practice, it was created by American physician Dr. George Goodheart as a method in which muscles act as the body’s “voice”. He discovered that physical and emotional stress can alter muscle tone - an insight now applied in many fields, from wellness to coaching.

What is kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a holistic method that explores the connection between body, mind, and emotions. Its main tool is the muscle test: the practitioner applies gentle pressure to a muscle while the client focuses on a specific thought or stimulus. If the muscle remains strong, it is seen as a sign of balance; if it weakens, it may indicate a blockage. These responses help identify imbalances and guide the choice of balancing techniques – such as acupressure, breathing exercises, movement, or affirmations. The process is mindful and respectful, carried out without force or pain.

What are the benefits of kinesiology on body and mind?

Kinesiology helps to relieve stress, gain inner clarity, and activate the body’s natural self-healing abilities. Many people describe feeling lighter and more emotionally balanced after a session. On a physical level, the method can have a positive impact on muscle tone, coordination, and the flow of energy. It is also used in preventive health care and coaching to enhance concentration, decision-making, and overall life balance. While kinesiology does not replace medical treatment, it serves as a valuable tool for strengthening body awareness and building trust in the body’s innate wisdom.
